I am a member of possibly the greatest jazz Big Band in the UK (lol) - OK, I exaggerate slightly! I play baritone sax in the band but originally played 2nd Tenor and then 2nd Alto.
We are based in Birmingham and play classic Big Band tunes, jazz standards, and even rock, blues, latin and pop numbers - so there is something for all tastes and ages. We were originally known as the Blue Max Big Band but changed our name when Jo James took over as Musical Director.
Our last gig was on 10th November at the Bearwood Corks Club with vocalist Tracy Lovejoy on top form. Prior to that we played on 24th September at the amazing National Trust property, Coughton Court at their Cheese and Pickle Festival. Other previous gigs include Mary Stevens Park, Stourbridge, Jephson Gardens in Leamington Spa, Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Bournbrook and Selly Oak Social Club, and Himley Hall. In the past we opened the new Amphitheatre in Cotteridge Park and wowed them at Herefordshire Art Week. For further information, details of all our forthcoming gigs, and how to book us please check out our website.
There was an article on the 6 medics in the band in BMA News (21/4/07).
