On a rainy Wednesday evening we beat bottom of the table Southampton 2-0 at their place. We needed to put the Everton defeat behind us but Southampton were desperate to pick up points to get out of the relegation zone. At least we didn’t let in another first minute goal. In the first half Mbeumo had a good chance saved by their keeper but in the 32nd minute we took the lead. A great corner from Mbeumo was headed on by Norgaard and Toney came in at the far post to score - it seemed like something they had been practising on the training ground. At the start of the second half we cleared a shot off our line and they had a free kick that curled wide of the post. Then we were involved in yet another very late goal in the 90+7th minute when Toney flicked a header on to Wissa who ran almost the length of their half to slot it past their keeper and we won 2-0.
