Wembley here we come!

Well not quite yet but we are on our way beating League 2 side Port Vale 4-1 at Vale Park in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup. A banana skin waiting to happen (Newcastle were beaten by Cambridge) and we start with 8 changes from the team that beat Villa, but we were highly professional and dominated the first half and go in 1-0 up at the break thanks to a 26th minute goal by Forss, and Wissa hit the bar. It was much more even in the second half with PortVale giving a very good account of themselves. We bring on second half sub Mbeumo and he puts us 2-0 up in the 66th minute. They get a very good goal in the the 70th minute to pull it back to 2-1 then for the next 5 minutes they have excellent chances to equalise. Fortunately, Mbeumo restores our two-goal cushion in the 76th minute running from inside his own half to score and then gets his hat trick from the penalty spot in the 87th minute. Ivan Toney was fouled and he lets Mbeumo take the pen and he dispatches it in Toney-esque style. A comfortable win in the end but some nervous moments in the second half.
