With Leicester City sacking Steve Cooper (hurray!) then this was our opportunity to have a real go at them whilst they were in disarray and waiting for their new manager to take over. I have stated many times that to survive in the PL we must get three points at home against every team below us in the league. Thomas Frank had an attacking line up with 4 forwards and we started brightly. Then a poor clearance by Flekken nearly gifted them a goal, At the other end Schade had a great header brilliantly tipped over the bar by their keeper. Then a through ball saw Pinnock not close enough to Vardy and the Leicester forward bundled him off the ball to cross for an easy tap in for them to go 0-1 up in the 21st minute. Three minutes later we were level. A great through ball by Damsgaard found Schade who crossed for Wissa to equalise. Then four minutes after the restart, Lewis-Potter skipped forward, and his square pass was helped on by Wissa towards Mbeumo. Rather than shifting the ball on to his left and going for goal, Mbeumo spotted Schade in space to the left of the penalty spot and picked him out with a low cross.
Schade took the shot early, and the ball took a slight deflection on its way into the bottom corner. Schade got his second in the eighth minute of added on time and after a delicate finish from another Damsgaard through ball. In the second half Collins burst down the right, Mbeumo crossed from the byline and Damsgaard’s diving header flew narrowly over the bar. Schade completed his hat-trick in the 59th minute after a great move and Collins, taking up another advanced position midway inside the their half, cut open the visitors’ backline with a superb pass. Schade ran on to it and confidently tucked it away and we ended the game 4-1 winners with Schade getting a hat-trick and an assist. The next game will be much tougher, away to Villa on Wednesday. I will be there and I hope we can get at least a point.
