We beat the Hammers 3-0 at the Gtech; our first win in 7 games
After 5 draws then a defeat, we get a win and keep a clean sheet. KA named the same starting XI for the fourth consecutive match. A Mavropanos own goal puts the Bees in front in the 15th minute as Kayode was about to score himself. Yet, 6 minutes later Mavropanos appears to make amends with the equaliser, but fortunately this was ruled out by VAR for offside. The Hammers, who are battling relegation, could not only have equalised but gone ahead as they hit the post twice. We

We lose away to Man U, but we should have done better
Although we were 2-0 down at half-time, Thiago should have had a hat-trick. In the second half we applied a lot of pressure with Ouattara hitting the woodwork. I thought we would never get a goal but a blistering right-footed finish from Jensen made it 2-1 in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, Man U held on to get all three points. The only good news was a much stronger subs bench with Dasilva named in a matchday squad for the first time since January 2024!

Another draw, 0-0 at home to Fulham
A pretty forgettable game and a fair result. We named an unchanged side because of injuries, so there was no alternative. Now 5 PL draws in a row, the first time since 1957. KLP had a chance at the end of the first half but it was in the last few minutes of the match that we had the opportunity to win the game. First, a Kayode long throw was headed goalwards by KLP but instead of going into the net it hit Thiago instead, then a great cross by KLP was hit sweetly by Ouattara a

A late Toffees goal at the Gtech means four draws in a row
Back to PL action after the International break. We name a strong side at home to Everton, but most of the B team were on the subs bench. We twice took the lead through Thiago but were ultimately pegged back by a resilient Everton side, who struck late to deny us all three points. Thiago’s brace took him to 21 goals and made him our highest goalscorer in a single PL season. There were no signs of rustiness after a three-week break as the Bees got off to a storming start at th

A goalless draw at Leeds, and I nearly fall asleep watching it on TV
That was up there for one of the most boring and dull games I’ve watched in a long time. I think the half time interval was the most exciting thing about the match. Nevertheless, a great point on the road, considering all our injuries, and even I hadn’t heard of half the players on the subs bench. So, a pretty awful game of football with zero quality, but we’ll take a point and hope we can get some energy back and maybe some players over the break. Never normally wish for an

We throw away another lead and draw at home to bottom club Wolves
Home to bottom club Wolves should have been a guaranteed three points, but Wolves have been playing well in their last few games. In the first half, we had plenty of possession and territory, and our control of the game paid off in the 22nd minute when Kayode headed home the opener. Lewis-Potter picked up the ball in a wide area on the left and whipped a fantastic, inswinging cross into the six-yard box; Thiago couldn't quite reach it, but the Bees' right-back was just behind

Out of the FA Cup, losing to the Hammers on pens
We fielded a strong side and started brighlty but went behind to a Bowen goal. Thiago equalised (although he didn't know much about it as it came off his chest from a header by Collins). Bowen restored the Hammers' lead, and despite a strong shout for a pen for a foul on Schade we went in at half-time 2-1 down. In the second half Thiago equalised from the spot after a foul on Kayode and both sides had good chances to win the game in normal time. It was even-stevens for the 3

We grind out a goalless draw on the south coast
We showed defensive grit in the 0-0 draw with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Not a great performance but at least we came away with a point. The Cherries had several good chances to score in the first half but failed to take them. In the second half Tavernier hit the post twice and Evanlison had a goal ruled out for offside, but we held firm to keep our seventh clean sheet of the season. Our best chance was a header by van den Berg that was well saved by their keeper. T

How the hell did we win this?
Final result Burnley 3 Brentford 4, but we were 0-3 up after 34 minutes and they had the ball in the net 5 times. A Damsgaard header from a corner after 9 minutes opened the scoring, a great through ball from Damsgaard to Thiago who slotted it home for our second in the 25th minute, and then a long throw by Kayode that was flicked on by van den Berg was cleared off the line and it fell to Schade who smashed it home for our third. Then things started to go wrong. In the third

A bad day at the office (Gtech)
A 0-2 home defeat by Brighton and who can I blame for the lacklustre perfomance? Perhaps it was because Kayode was out injured or the players had not got over the jet lag travelling back from Macclesfield on Monday night. We were two goals down by half-time and the second coming from after an error by Collins (who was on as a sub for Hickey). The introduction of Schade (who had been suspended for the previous three games after his red card at Villa) made no difference, althou
