Out of the FA Cup, losing to the Hammers on pens
We fielded a strong side and started brighlty but went behind to a Bowen goal. Thiago equalised (although he didn't know much about it as it came off his chest from a header by Collins). Bowen restored the Hammers' lead, and despite a strong shout for a pen for a foul on Schade we went in at half-time 2-1 down. In the second half Thiago equalised from the spot after a foul on Kayode and both sides had good chances to win the game in normal time. It was even-stevens for the 3

We grind out a goalless draw on the south coast
We showed defensive grit in the 0-0 draw with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Not a great performance but at least we came away with a point. The Cherries had several good chances to score in the first half but failed to take them. In the second half Tavernier hit the post twice and Evanlison had a goal ruled out for offside, but we held firm to keep our seventh clean sheet of the season. Our best chance was a header by van den Berg that was well saved by their keeper. T

How the hell did we win this?
Final result Burnley 3 Brentford 4, but we were 0-3 up after 34 minutes and they had the ball in the net 5 times. A Damsgaard header from a corner after 9 minutes opened the scoring, a great through ball from Damsgaard to Thiago who slotted it home for our second in the 25th minute, and then a long throw by Kayode that was flicked on by van den Berg was cleared off the line and it fell to Schade who smashed it home for our third. Then things started to go wrong. In the third

A bad day at the office (Gtech)
A 0-2 home defeat by Brighton and who can I blame for the lacklustre perfomance? Perhaps it was because Kayode was out injured or the players had not got over the jet lag travelling back from Macclesfield on Monday night. We were two goals down by half-time and the second coming from after an error by Collins (who was on as a sub for Hickey). The introduction of Schade (who had been suspended for the previous three games after his red card at Villa) made no difference, althou

A banana skin avoided (but only just) as we go through to the 5th Round of the FA Cup
Away to 6th tier Macclesfield Town (who had beaten cup holders Crystal Palace in the previous round and was probably one of the biggest giant killing upsets in FA Cup history), we were on a hiding to nothing. KA made 7 changes from the team who drew with Arsenal last Thursday night and handed a debut to recent signing Furo. On their artificial pitch, we struggled in the first half but played a bit better in the second half. We scraped through by the only goal of the match. I

We were not outgunned by the Gunners
After two great away wins at Villa and Newcastle, I was quite relaxed about Arsenal getting all three points at the Gtech. Yet, we came away with point after a 1-1 draw. Arsenal were desperate to win as the previous night Man City had closed the gap to three points at the top of the PL. At the 10-minute mark Arsenal almost scored from a corner. Rice delivered to the far post, where Gabriel headed towards goal from close range, but van den Berg headed the ball off the line and

We scare away the Magpies
Winning at Villa Park last Sunday was unexpected, but beating Newcastle at St. James’ Park was a complete surprise. With Schade suspended, KA brought back KLP and again left Collins and Damsgaard on the bench. Ex-Bee Wissa was making his first appearance against us and was loudly booed (for good reason) by the away fans each time he touched the ball. After only two minutes, Botman’s poor defensive header was seized upon by KLP. His shirt was blatantly tugged by Trippier, and

Back to winning ways as 10-man Bees beat the Villa
A great defensive display in the second half sees 10-man Bees hold on to their first-half lead to get the 3 points. When the 4th Official annnounced 10 minutes of added-on time, I'm not sure how my blood pressure didn't go through the roof. As I am still celebrating the win I would like to acknowldege the Brentford FC website as I have 'borrowwd' their report (with the occasional comment in italic ). Kevin Schade received a straight red card moments before Ouattara netted the

A bad day at the office, losing to Forest at home
Surely this was a guaranteed 3 points with Forest only having played on Thursday in Europe, losing to Braga 1-0 in Portugal (and they missed a pen), our great home form, and us needing to avenge our opening day defeat at their place. However, we were well below par and Forest ran out easy winners 0-2 with breakaway counter attack goals, one in each half. Also, both Damsgaard and Ajer had to be taken off with knee and ankle injuries, respectively. Thiago nearly scored after o

Our unbeaten run comes to an end
Chelsea won Liam Rosenior's first Premier League match as head coach as they secured a battling home victory against the mighty Bees who were undefeated in their previous six matches. Joao Pedro's powerful first-half strike and Cole Palmer's penalty after the break gave Chelsea a 2-0 win. But they did not have it all their own way, with the Bees having more possession, shots, and shots on target than their hosts. We started brightly and Kevin Schade had our first two attempts
