Victory against Chelsea at the Gtech and now five games unbeaten!

A difficult home game against an improving Chelsea, who made an interesting team selection. Pedro was out and although Palmer and Rogers were playing so were Welbeck and ex-Bee Henderson. With Collins and van ven Berg still out injured, it meant 20-year-old new CB signing Schuster was again starting, when it was expected that he would be weaned into the First XI as the season progressed. We started the game brightly and then Chelsea had increasing amounts of possession. For the whole game, particularly the first half, we regularly gave the ball away or were caught in possession. It was 0-0 at half time, and had it stayed that way at full time, I don't think there would have been too many complaints from either side.

In the 61st minute we took the lead. A corner from Damsgaard to the far post was headed back across goal by Schuster and all an unmarked Anthony had to do was nod it into the net. Up to then, that was probably the only thing he had done all game. We doubled our lead in the 83rd minute when Schade broke clear and only had Martinez to beat, but the Chelsea keeper made a good save to push the ball out to his left, fortunately straight into the path of Thiago who put it into an empty net, getting his first PL goal of the season. In time added on we got our third. A Schade cross was deflected towards the far post and Carvalho rushed in to strike it past Martinez. The scoreline flattered us but we got the 3 points.
