On paper, a 3rd Round FA cup tie away to Sheffield Wednesday should be an odds-on victory. Wednesday are 29 points adrift at the bottom of the Championship having lost 4 and drawn 2 of their last six games, compared with the Bees who have won 4 and drawn 2. Yet, what did Wednesday have to lose and could this be a big banana skin for the Bees? Even with 8 changes and Thiago and Schade rested we did a highly professional job winning 0-2 and it should have been more. In the first half Nelson hit the underside of the bar and KLP headed against the bar when he should have scored. He made amends a little while later and sneaked in at the back post to tap in from a Jensen free kick in the 27th minute. In the second half their keeper made good saves from Donovan, KLP and Jensen. Nevertheless, we wrapped it up in the 64th minute when Donovan was brought down in the area and Jensen smashed in the penalty. Overall we had 20 shots with 11 on target. A banana skin avoided.
