Away to Wolves and both sides seemed to take it seriously, unlike the three match officials who thought they had already started their summer holiday. Some irritatingly poor decisions with little regard for the rules e.g. allowing play to continue with two balls on the pitch. Anyway, Frank named an unchanged starting XI, while defender Hickey returned to a matchday squad for the first time since October 2023. It was a match of numerous missed oppportunites for both sides with Flekken making a coupleof good saves. Our build up play was, on a few occasions, extremely good but our last pass or touch was poor, or we tried to beat too many players in the penalty area instead of shooting. Wolves also squandered good chances, especially in the second half. We started the game brightly, then Wolves came into the game. Around the 20 minute mark we had a couple of chances then the ball dropped kindly for Nørgaard inside the six-yard box, and the Brentford captain selflessly squared for Mbeumo who steered home at the first time of asking bringing his tally to 20 goals this season. We should have got our second in the 36th minute when a break by Damsgaard found Wissa who passed to Lewis-Potter who only had the keeper to beat. He tried to chip him but only succeeded in putting it on to the roof of the net. We got to half-time 0-1 up. At the start of the second half Wolves were on top and had some good chances to equalise, but we also squandered some opportunites on the break. In the 75th minute Wolves did equalise. A long clearance was headed on and a great strike gave Flekken no chance. Towards the end Thiago had a good header go wide and in the last minute of added on time we forced two corners but nothing came of them. A 1-1 draw was a fair result. I had been shouting the praises of right-back Kayode, but now seeing him in the flesh I'm not so sure we should make his loan move permanent. He is incredibly keen but very gangly and I think his defending will guarantee giving the opposition a few goals next season. He may try to start wanting to beat attackers on the edge of our box and will get caught out.
