A well deserved away win at Wolves

This was our chance to allow Wolves their first win of the season, but we played well for nearly all the game, running the midfield and strong in defence. If we had showed a bit more up front we would have won by an even greater margin. In all the games I have seen them play at Molineux, this was the best seat I have ever had. For the second game running Thiago never saw the ball, but it had no effect on the outcome. A testament to the way were were playing is that KA only made just one substitution. Wolves only got their first real attack in the 20th minute when Kelleher had to palm a deflected cross over the bar. Wolves got into the game a bit more as they improved their pressing but we again took over. Despite running the game we really didnt seem to hurt them and we only had one shot in the first half, from Lewis-Potter that Sa saved well. In the second half we were all over them and Sa made two great saves from Schade within a minute. The first from a diving header (that he probably should have placed better) and then a shot. Then Schade beat Sa to a cross from the right, but a Wolves defender hacked the ball behind for a corner with the keeper still grounded, and a Bees player ready to tap it in. Just when I was thinking that we would never score and they would get a breakaway goal to win it, we broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute. Janelt lofted the ball into the box and two defenders, occupied by Thiago, failed to deal with the danger, and Lewis-Potter ghosted in and beat Sa with a controlled finish. Wolfe’s looping header landed on the roof of Kelleher’s net as Wolves attempted to mount a comeback. Then Schade broke away from defence and still in his own half he played an amazing long ball to Damsgaard, who lifted the ball over Sa and narrowly wide of the far post. We got the second goal in the 83rd minute. Kayode played the ball up the right channel for Damsgaard, he interchanged passes with Lewis-Potter and the Dane’s cross was brilliantly volleyed home by Lewis-Potter at full stretch. Just when I thought we had all three points in the bag, Wolves had a chance to reduce the deficit after Kelleher brought Doherty down in the six-yard box, but the Brentford keeper made amends, launching himself to his left to save Strand Larsen’s penalty.
Now we can finally put our chant (sung to the tune of 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight') "Win away, win away, win away, we never win away" to bed.
