Another home win

We bounce back after our poor performance away to Villa last Wednesday with a 4-2 home win against Newcastle. Although they hit the bar after about two minutes, we take the lead in the 8th minute through Mbeumo. A great ball from Norgaard finds him on the right. He cuts in past a couple of defenders and hits a left foot shot that their keeper expects to go curling into the far corner but he disguises it so well that he curles it into the near corner of the net. Almost immediately they attack down the right and Collins slips allowing Izak to go around Fleken and as he is about to score when Flekken manages to get a hand on it to push it to safety. Nevertheless, they equalise only three minutes later when Izak gets in between our centre backs to head in. Then in the 28th minute, against the run of play, we take the lead. Wissa is gifted the ball in the middle of their half. He runs forward and unleashes a great shot into the net. Four minutes later, after some poor marking (again by Pinnock), it allows them to make it 2-2. The first half ends 2-2 with Newcastle the more likley team to take the lead.

In the second half their keeper nearly puts a shot into his own net but the ball hits the post. We regain the lead in the 58th minute after a free kick from Flekken is allowed to go over many of their defenders' heads for Collins to cooly side foot in. With 5 minutes left Newcastle had a great chance to equalise but their header goes over the bar. In the 90th minute Mbeumo slips in Schade and their last defende slips allowing him to get our fourth. We nearly get another in the 90+3 minute when their keepr loses the ball to Mbuemo just inside their own half. He runs foward and curls a shot that is on the way into an empty net until one of their defenders rushes back to clear off the line.
