The new season starts with a 2-2 home draw against Spurs (at least we didn’t lose)

Not a great pre-season with three games in the States (lost 3-2 to Fulham, lost 2-0 to Brighton, drew 3-3 with Villa) - and our new keeper Flekken should have done better with four of the goals, then a home goalless draw with Lille. We started brightly then in the 11th minute an unnecessary free kick near the edge of our box sees them score with a header. Some degree of ball watching by our other new signing, Collins. VAR stated it was onside by the tiniest of margins (had the Brentford defender been of another religious persuasion then it might have been offside). We equalised through a Mbeumo pen in the 26th minute after Jensen was fouled (given by VAR and not by the ref). Then we took the lead through Wissa in the 36th minute but they equalised in the 45+4 minute with a strike from the edge of the box that again I felt our keeper could have done better. A breakaway after that nearly saw us restore our lead with Wissa crossing for Mbeumo who put his shot over the bar. In the second half we sat back and let Spurs attack us but Flekken did make one good save. One point is better than none.
