Through to the 3rd Round of the Carabao Cup
A big banana skin was waiting for us as we hosted League Two side Forest Green Rovers in the 2nd Round of the Carabao Cup. After their keeper made a couple of good saves they took a shock lead in the 8th minute after some defensive errors and they nearly added to it shortly afterwards. Going into the break a goal down I was half expecting that at the end of the match I would be writing ‘now we can concentrate on the league’, but after a number of substitutions new boy Wissa got the equaliser in the 60th minute and Mbeumo put us in front in the 7th minute. Then one of their players got sent off for a tackle on Janelt in the 80th minute and it was a comfortable victory in the end with Forss getting our third in the 86th minute. On Saturday we are away to Aston Villa; a very big game for me living in Birmingham (plus Dean Smith David having poached Watkins and Konsa from us). Normally I would go to the match but with COVID I think it prudent not to. I would definitely settle for a draw.
