We thrash Villa at the Gtech

First home game of the season sees us beat Villa 1-0 (although it should have been 2-0) and gives Keith Andrews his first win as Head Coach. Ouattara, who joined the Bees for a club record fee of £42.5m from Bournemouth a week ago, scored on his debut as we earned our first PL win of the season with a gritty performance against Villa. The only goal of the game came in the 12th-minute. This was classic route one football as Kelleher's long punt was flicked on by Thiago and Ouattara broke clear. Martinez rushed off his line to block his initial effort, but Ouattara showed good anticipation to meet the loose ball before calmly stroking it into the net. We should have increased our advantage shortly before half-time when Damsgaard crisply volleyed home after the ball dropped to him following Kayode's long throw. Unfortunately, VAR deemed that Bees’ skipper Collins had (allegedly) impeded Martinez (typical Martinez sh-thousehery) and it was ruled out. Villa were better after the break but could not find a way past keeper Kelleher. I now have bragging rights in my road and I’m wearing my Bees t-shirt tomorrow!
